ABOUT JOANNA

After a decade working as a Scrub Nurse, I made the decision to step away and rediscover my passion for art and creativity.

Having been drawn to the expressive nature of ceramics throughout my life, travelling to exhibitions and workshops showcasing inspirational artists. I took the leap and started my practice in 2022. I am largely self taught and enjoy the process of inventing and developing new techniques.

I enjoy the practice of hand building, layering elements of stained clay to produce unique art tiles. I enjoy how expressive and versatile tiles can be, and love the idea of creating art that will endure.

I am inspired by the beauty and fragility of the natural world. My art aims to explore the concept of change, both ecological and personal, aiming to capture the feeling of a time and place.
